Ever since seeing the fall 2018 ITP show and seeing dichroic film for the first time, I have been obsessed with the material. I chose my color palette based on the potential filtered light wavelengths that are produced by light shining through the film.
One of my dichroic panels: laser cut dichroic tiles imbedded into a plate that spins underneath a light source.
These compositions are all geometric based, starting with a concentric square inspired by Josef Albers then on to moving geometries which were adapted from code found from Generative-Design Visualize Program, and Created with Javascript in p5.js. I tweaked the code to use my color palette, added in randomness, and “drew” these with the programs in the p5 web editor.
